So much accomplishments, so little posts.

Last week:

Last week I made an outline for the trifold that we will start to develop later down the road. I also was put in charge of the first part of the presentation and I worked on the first few slides and scripting the first few points like the outline and the background information to sort of lay the foundation for the rest of the presentation.

This week,

I had an amazing time on the camping trip and an amazing weekend as well.

I came back to school to give a prepare for the presentation that I would be giving the very next day.

I gave the presentation and I had a relatively fun time giving it, along with my groupmates.

Today we worked on the outline some more for the presentation that we will be giving on exhibition night. Stay tuned.

Entry:

Today got off to somewhat of a slow start. I was caught not doing work in Spencer's class. So I went to my foreman and he lined up some work for me to do. Me and Aaron, to be more precise. He put me in charge of Aaron to take out the windmill and to measure its generated output. So I got our wind turbine out there with Aaron's help. Once we got it out there I was able to borrow a multimeter from the other Aaron (the Commerson one) so we could measure the output. To my groups surprise our wind turbine was able to crank out:

Low Wind Speeds: 1.5v-2.2v, 1.5A

Mid-Low High Wind Speeds: 3v-8v, 2A

High Wind Speeds: 8v-12v, 3A

Superb-Max Wind Speeds: 12v-15v, 4-6A

Great Success!

Today my fellow group members and I, had successfully survived yet another group check-in with our chemistry teacher Andrew. Afterwards though all three of us got to work on the computers in Spencer's class. I did research on wind energy, on subtopics directed by the head of research Aaron.
Joe helped us with the check in and he finished beefing up the outline.
Aaron did some more research and directed me on what to research.

Today I fixed the blades of our wind turbine so that the propellers were facing in the correct direction so that it would generate more power while facing the wind, contrary to the beliefs of my foreman Joe who stubbornly stuck with his idea of blatantly putting the blades on backwards. Most of the time today was spent persuading him to let me do so. I did so gladly.
Joe gave me clearance to re-screw the blades on correctly and he oversaw me as I did that. He also tried to measure the generators output with the multimeter.
Aaron diligently continued with his research.

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Me and my foreman Joe, did quite a bit today in regards to working on the windmill. Before today, I had only set up the base and its reinforcements and connect the stem to the base. Now, our windmill is pretty much done. That being said, its sort of far from being the final product just yet. We plan to fine tune the windmill so it can generate the most electricity, we want the final product to be as perfect as possible.
Joe brought the generator and the inverter to school today and he helped me in setting up the propeller and the generator mounting.
Aaron continued his research.

Friday, February 27, 2009

Today I did a lot of critical research that is vital to our groups overall project. As with yesterday, since I have done my part already by making sure the base construction is finished. So now all I have left to do is researching the topic "the pros and cons of wind energy" some more.

Joe wasnt here

Aaron researched photochemistry and he helped me with my research whenever I needed it.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Today was probably one of the only days I spent entirely inside from the time since the project started. I was on the computer doing research on windmill technology and its implementation. The main topic I was researching was "The pros and cons of windmill energy". I found a bit of useful information, most of which, unfortunately was already found by my partner, Aaron.

Heres a pretty useful site on this topic.

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/pros-and-cons-of-wind-power.html

Joe did some foreman stuff and he made sure that our base was doing fine while he did some research.
Aaron did more research on the ever-evasive topic of electro-chemistry.
Me and Aaron helped each other while researching today.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Eli Komai
Joe, Aaron
Tuesday, February 24-Wednesday, February 25th.

On Tuesday I finished up my reinforcements on the base and I helped Joe carry out the idea that we drafted up together, the idea require that we would tie strings from the corner of one of the baseboards and then connect it to the stem itself for support.
Joe brainstormed with me on how to further reinforce the base with me. He also carried out his final idea concept with my help.
Aaron did a lot of research on electrochemistry and windmill technology.
On Wednesday I finished up the outline that Aaron started working on the day before. I came to school then turned it in to Joe. After that, I did my solo interview with Andrew my math teacher, it went well.
Joe finished up and revised the outline I made the night before and he worked on the base.
Aaron did more research and he presented me with his noted that he acquired over the course of that research.

monday, February 23.

Eli Komai
Partners: Joe, Aaron

Today I made the solution to a failed idea plan and executed that solution in the same day. I got a board cut and used it to reinforce the base holder that Joe brought in. Beforehand, the base was stable in one direction, but not the other. After my changes, it is stable in both directions.
Aaron researched extensively on electro chemistry.
Joe brought in the base piece to connect the base to the stem.
Joe helped me when I drilled the piece to the base with the support board in between him, I couldnt have done it without him.

Late last week

Monday, february 23.
I am making up for last week, because I forgot to do it over the weekend.

On Monday: Holiday.

On Tuesday:
I organized the wood and got the 2x4's ready. I got the tape measurer and drew out the midpoints on all of the wood that our entire group had.
-Aaron brought in all the wood for the base
-Joe got the L brackets in and helped measure.
-Aaron brought the wood for me to work with and Joe held the tape measurer down.
On Wednesday:
I Got the boards that I measured cut by Andrew and I drilled the L brackets into the cut boards.
-Aaron did research on electro chemistry and everything related to such things.
-Joe brought the nails and the drill and helped line up the boards for the drilling.
On Thursday:
-I re-drilled the base together to make it more stable. Then I brainstormed and made sketches and showed them to Joe on how to connect the stem to the base.
-Aaron wasnt there
-Joe suggested that I re drill and held the base together while I did so.
On Friday:
I got my ideas approved by Joe and got the wood cut so I could carry out the idea on monday when Joe could get the necessary supplies.
-Joe worked with me on approving the ideas that we drafted together.
-Aaron was still sick ;_;
Joe helped me get the wood and polish the idea so we could actually do it, and he agreed to go and get all of the supplies so we could do the idea on monday.

Your Name: ______Eli Komai___________________

Partner’s Name(s): ____Joe Barhoumi, Aaron Roieez________________

Day & Date: ____Monday, Febuary the ninth, Two thousand and nine A.D._____________

1. Briefly describe what you PERSONALLY accomplished today:
I did two 3d models in sketchup, the first with a wood base prototype for our windmill.
The second, was made under the direction of my foreman, Joe Barhoumi. He decided to dictate to me on what to do in sketchup after seeing what I was up to. He said "No, no. We are gonna be using pipes for the base!", "Then what the hell are we gonna be using the 2x4's for then?" I snapped back at my boss. "I dunno, well use it for something else..." he said, gears churning in his head. So after that, he basically dictated on what he wanted it to look like. He was proud. Im proud too, now we all have the same solid idea in our minds on what this thing is gonna look like.

2. Briefly describe what each of your TEAMMATE(S) accomplished today:
Joe looked for the generator and he purchased the inverter, and dictated to me as well.

Aaron looked for miscellaneous supplies and researched all of the things that he would need to know about windmills, right now Aaron knows how to make a windmill better than all of the members in the group, hell be directing the construction.

3. Briefly describe how you and your partner(s) ASSISTED each other today:

Hi-fives and complements.

P.S. Why is there that third section.Even when cross-checking the stories, if you use basic logic it is unnecessary. Please talk to me regarding this subject spencer, when you get back on thursday.
P.S.S. sketchup sounds like ketchup.

1. Briefly describe what you PERSONALLY accomplished today:

I finished making all of the changes to the project proposal that I started over the weekend. I turned it into Joe for his final revision, (to check if did stuff, but not overdoing it).

I scouted with Joe for the ideal electrical generator. We looked on craigslist, amazon, and a few other sites that WERENT banned. After a bit of searching we found a generator that could supply the power rating for an R-series laptop. We could get one of those generators for as low as ten dollars! We're one step closer to the final product.

2. Briefly describe what each of your TEAMMATE(S) accomplished today:

Joe revised the changes I made, to see if it was fit for the teachers eyes. He also browsed supplies, other than the generator.

Aaron showed up! and helped out with the planning for the supplies.

3. Briefly describe how you and your partner(s) ASSISTED each other today:

Aaron and company (me and joe) discussed the "whos doing what" in the project. As well as the "whos doing what" in the project.
